AUSTIN – For Democrats, Texas is Clinton Country, according to a statewide poll of likely voters.
The Texas Pulse survey released Wednesday found Hillary Clinton led Bernie Sanders in Texas by 53 percent to 21 percent among likely Democratic voters in the presidential race. Vice President Joe Biden had 14 percent, although he hasn’t announced for the top job.
The survey was conducted by Crosswind Media & Public Relations on Sept. 11-14. The survey of 1,000 Texans has a margin of error or plus or minus 3 percentage points.
The poll was conducted before the most recent Republican debate but basically is in line with matchups nationally. The Real Clear Politics average shows Trump leading the GOP field with 28.5 percent support and Clinton ahead among Democrats with 41.2 percent.
“Despite some challenges, the Clinton name is still gold among Texas Democrats,” said Thomas Graham, Crosswind president and CEO.
