Below is a message from Port CEO Sean Strawbridge to you, regarding the recent State of the Port luncheon held at the Solomon P. Ortiz International Center, 6 November, 2019.
Dear fellow residents of the South Texas Coastal Bend,
Last week, alongside a sellout crowd of more than 900 of our friends and neighbors, Port of Corpus Christi Commission chairman Charlie Zahn delivered a powerful presentation on the incredible growth and opportunities taking place for the Port and our region.
Over the next several years, we anticipate significant environmentally sustainable and economically sound business coming to the Port. As we prepare for unprecedented additional volumes of resources by building the necessary supporting infrastructure in a fiscally and socially responsible manner, we continue to prioritize you – our friends and neighbors who work here, who play here, and who live here – so you can feel good about what your Port is building for your community.
Charlie said it well in his address:
We have a unique privilege at the Port of Corpus Christi. We are able to take funds generated by our growing maritime commerce and reinvest them into our community.
When I speak about the Port of Corpus Christi being YOUR port: it’s through job creation, workforce development, sustainability programs, and most importantly, the seedlings of this community…our youth.
When we speak about adding to our story as a Port, as a city, as a region, and as a community, what we are really speaking about is the legacy we are leaving for our children and for their children. In turn, they will add their marks to this story, too. We have an opportunity here to give them the resources to succeed, and an energized community to do it in.
We invite you to join us on this exciting, transformative journey for the Port of Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend region by sharing some of our latest activities with friends and family on social media.
We live here, we work here, we fish here – right alongside you and our amazing local partners.
Your friend, neighbor, and Port CEO,
Sean Strawbridge
