WCS has always aimed to provide a safe, secure, long-term solution for waste disposal while fully protecting the environment. Our greatest ally in this effort is the geology and geography at the disposal site. The Texas Compact Disposal Facility and Federal Waste Facility feature the most environmentally protective designs in the industry with below-grade disposal in concrete-lined cells that are constructed inside a natural 600-foot formation of almost impermeable Dockum red-bed clay.
In comparison, other facilities do not benefit from this type of geology. For example, waste disposal at other sites must occur above ground due to the location of the water table which allows for the potential of erosion and there is no barrier protecting groundwater.
We were delighted to have a group from Abilene Christian University's NEXT Lab tour our facility. The NEXT Lab is working to find global solutions for the nuclear industry. We enjoyed visiting with our colleagues and look forward to what NEXT will bring to the future.
WCS had the honor of sponsoring the 67th Annual Andrews Chamber Banquet featuring Wade Bowen! We had a wonderful night celebrating our community with good food and great entertainment.
The Monahans Chamber of Commerce also celebrated their 67th Annual Awards Banquet! WCS was honored to be a part of the celebration. Supporting our local Chambers of Commerce is of great importance to us.
