Texas Firearms Festival comes to Liberty Hill October 14-16
Festival organizers put spotlight on safety with on-site education and training classes at unique “try before you buy†event
Austin, TX – Gun enthusiasts across all experience levels will get an opportunity to learn about firearms in a safe, controlled environment at the Texas Firearms Festival, October 15-16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Best of the West shooting range in Liberty Hill, Texas. The Texas State Rifle Association, one of the event sponsors, will host educational and learn-to-shoot classes for beginners on both days. Individuals have the opportunity to purchase tickets that allow them to try exhibitor guns at the event, under the close supervision of manufacturer representatives and training safety officers. There is no limit to the number of guns qualified ticketholders can try at the festival.
VIP ticket holders gain earlier access into the festival each day at 9 a.m., and can also attend a separate “Full Auto Friday†event on October 14 that features automatic weapons.
This is the third year for the event, and Festival CEO Michelle Felkins emphasized that the organization's dedication to safety and education helps dispel myths about gun hobbyists and enthusiasts at all levels, and has helped broaden the appeal for the event – from families and new gun owners, to avid hunters and firearm collectors.
“We have always placed safety first at this festival, not just during the event itself, but in the mandatory training we require of our on-site safety officers, vendors and exhibitors prior to the festival,†said Felkins, citing their impeccable safety record over the last two years of the festival’s history. “We also have a zero tolerance policy for attendees who don’t comply with the holster policy for their own licensed guns they carry into the event. If they come out of their holsters, they will be escorted from the festival. Period.â€
Those who wish to try guns at the festival should purchase “shooter tickets,†which will give them access to over 20 dedicated firearms demonstration “try and buy†bays. Booth shooter and non-shooter tickets will be able to browse a retail village that showcases the best in ammo and accessories.
Individuals can purchase VIP tickets for either day or both days. In addition to earlier morning access and the features available to regular ticketholders, VIP attendees gain “Fast Pass†access to skip the line at each exhibitor bay by showing their VIP wristbands. The National Shooting Sports Foundation is sponsoring the VIP lounge, complementary Wi-Fi and free refreshments and lunch for VIP attendees from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.
All attendees can purchase food from Austin’s finest food-truck cuisine and enjoy free parking, with preferred parking for VIP attendees on a first-come, first-serve basis. No alcohol beverages will be served, available for purchase or allowed into the event for any ticketholders. All tickets can be purchased online.
Parents or legal guardians of minor children must be with their children at all times and are subject to special provisions. Festival organizers recommend parents and legal guardians read the event rules regarding minor children before purchasing their tickets or bringing them to the Festival.
The address for Best of the West shooting range is 19500 W. SH 29, Liberty Hill, Texas 78642. A map to the range can be found here.
