Last Wednesday, the industry’s leading records and data management experts gathered for a one-day, interactive and engaging conference at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Presented by Digital Government Institute (DGI), the 930gov Conference is surely an annual conference not to be missed. 
The event was action-packed and the venue was filled with interactive booths and displays. Thousands of attendees gained exposure to new ideas and best practices, as well as fantastic networking opportunities with others in the data community. Creative and unique methods of reducing waste in both time and money were undoubtedly the themes of the day.
The conference included seminars and breakouts in areas such as cyber/IT security, records management, customer experience, knowledge management and development. Our team was impressed with 930gov’s variety of speakers, lively discussion and breadth of experience and content level presented.

One last comprehensive breakout session included a second series of speakers, titled “Knowledge Management Comes of Age.†This session joined Goodyear Professor of Kent State University Denise Bedford, Director and Chapter Relations at AIIM Betsy Fanning, Chief Knowledge Officer for the U.S. Secret Service Marion Georgieff, Chief Knowledge Strategist at NTT Data Federal Inc. Annie Green, and Knowledge Manager of the FAA Giora Hadar. This impressive assortment of speakers collectively recognized that the knowledge management industry has been evolving over 60 years and that there are no established standards pertaining to education or practice in the space.
